Volunteers are important to the sucess of the Natural Reserve System. From getting muddy in the marsh to planting native plants and patrolling the intertidal, our neighbors, local schools, and community can get involved.
The Natural Reserve System also has internships available for undergraduates at UC San Diego (perfect for ESYS or USP Seniors or a 199 course). If you are have a project in mind or would like to talk about our volunteer interships please contact Isabelle Kay .
| The Association of Environmental Professionals, a club at UCSD, currently volunteers a few days a month helping native plants re-establish themselves on the Knoll of the Scripps Reserve. |
| The French-American School, location in Clairemont, has visited the Kendall-Frost marsh numerous times to remove the invasive iceplant and mangroves, and to set Clapper-Rail nesting platforms. |
| Twice a year in the spring and fall, the NRS and citizen and local school volunteers perform stream sampling at multiple locations along the Agua Hedionda Creek on the Dawson Reserve . | ![]() |
