Public Use

Public uses include K-12 and continuing education classes, extracurricular activities for all levels of students, public agency visits, group tours, etc.

Please contact us at nrs@ucsd.edu or 858-534-2077 to make inquiries. Then go to Visit a Reserve on the home page to fill in a Public Use application.

K-12 and continuing education

Classes from schools and training institutions are welcome to visit the reserves for appropriate field exercises. Please contact the Academic Coordinator at nrs@ucsd.edu to discuss how the reserves can best serve your curricular or extra-curricular program. Class sizes are generally limited to no more than 30 students, and chaparones/teaching assistants are required in addition to the instructor for students below 10th grade.

You will need to submit an online application via the RAMS system after consultation with the AC (see Visit a Reserve), selecting Public in the choices of user type.

Private group events

The Reserves are largely not suitable for non-academic gatherings. However, the Scripps Coastal Reserve upland area has traditionally been the setting for small ceremonies (under 30 people.) Please let us know if you are interested. A fee is required.
